Funding for programs offered by WCHS

Funding for programs offered by WCHS come from a wide variety of sources including United Way, Waynesboro Fellowship of Churches, individuals, local churches, businesses and organizations. Other services are funded by human service agencies, grants and/or public funds from state and local governments.


WCHS center is open Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 9:00 AM to 12 Noon and 1 PM - 3:30 PM , Wednesday 9 AM – 12 Noon and Thursday from1PM - 6 PM. Please call 717-762-6941 to set up an appointment or for more information.

 




WCHS | Food Bank
Clients may visit our Food Pantry

Clients may visit our Food Pantry once every 6 weeks. Our food bank is a choice food bank allowing the clients to pick the cereal, cans of fruit, vegetables, pasta, meats, etc that they know their family will eat. The income guideline for clients using our food bank is 150% of the federal poverty guidelines. The majority of the food in our food pantry is donated through food drives held by the Boy Scouts, the post office, churches, schools, and local businesses. Weekly donations of food are received from Walmart, Food Lion and Martins. We are a member of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.

WCHS | Clothing Bank
Clients may visit our Clothing Bank

Thanks to donations from the community our clothing bank is well stocked with clothing, shoes and coats for men, women, and children. We also have household items such as dishes, pots and pans, small appliances, bedding, towels and miscellaneous items for our clients to select as needed. Visits are limited to once a week. There is no charge for any item in our clothing bank.

WCHS | Emergency Financial Assistance
Clients may request assistance from our our Emergency Financial Assistance

Financial Assistance is available to clients in the 125% of the federal poverty guideline or less to prevent utility shut offs, first month or late rent payments to prevent homelessness, fuel oil, prescriptions and gas to get to work or to a doctor’s appointment. WCHS is authorized to fill out LIPURP and Dollar Energy applications.

WCHS | Diaper Bank
Clients may visit our Diaper Bank

Families within the 125% HHS poverty guideline can receive help with diapers through WCHS. Clients are able to purchase diapers and wipes at a reduced rate once a month. A second pack of diapers and wipes can be received each month for free through a grant that we received through the Harrisburg Catholic Diocese.

WCHS | Information and Referral
We help clients with Information and Referral

The staff is available to help individuals in the community find specific services or programs they need. Applications for public assistance and LIHEAP are available. Those wishing such help should contact the center at 717-762-6941.

WCHS | Community Health Nurse 
Clients may visit our Community Health Nurse

Waynesboro Community & Human Services offers the Community Nurse program to individuals who live within the Borough of Waynesboro. Through a grant from Summit Endowment it has recently been expanded to include residents of Washington Twp. The Community Nurse program offers a variety of in home health care services. Long and short term nursing treatment is available, Individual personal care plans, etc. Services are available daily, weekly, monthly or occasionally. Services may include administration of medication, diabetic monitoring, insulin syringe prep and/or administration, treatments, wound care, etc. For more information or to reach the Community Nurse please call 717-860-3081.
